Medical exam for work permit

Hi,

I submitted a work permit application and I need to get a medical exam. The CIC site mentions that an upfront medical exam can be done and submitted ALONG with the application. The other option is to wait for CIC to request a medical exam.

I am planning on getting a medical exam now so that I can have the report ready. Is that OK or should I strictly wait for CIC to request the medical exam and then get it done.

If a medical is not done upfront you must wait to be asked by CIC.

Any rough idea, how long does it take the CIC to send instructions for medical exam? I submitted my application last week.

My work permit application is very simple and thorough. It shouldn't take them much time to process it.
