If you don't have a H/C base, it's very hard to win the case.
How old is your kid? If it's less than 6, you'd better leave her back and try this out yourself first.
I heard that many people come to Canada with visitor status and find a job here, then change their status to work permit. Canada actually encourages people to do this for the labour shortage. They extend changing status within Canada active for another two years. It's a significant step to become PR again.
Under work permit, you will get some benefit for medical insurance and free for kid going to public school. I have no idea if you are a PR, how can you change status to work permit...maybe renounce PR first and apply for visitor visa is the only way.
Consult with a real lawyer about this. I do think you will be very hard to save your PR from the situation you mentioned. To start a new one maybe not bad.
