@echbee so I got an email confirmation from RCMP that the record check results were mailed out by them to IRCC on January 5th. Any new update on your end?
What exactly is the difference between Prohibition and Background check? I looked up the link on the website and they're both the same. lol so confusing. If anyone knows please kindly explain. Thanks.

lol I wonder too.
My guess is that "background check" clears you for criminal offences and "prohibitions" clears anything else like immigration refusals/misrepresentation/etc. ?
I received the test invitation on the 17th and the test start date was yesterday. I am entering my application ID and UCI. However, I am getting the following message. I already sent them an e-mail and the reply may come in 5 days. Did you guys receive the following error message:
"Based on our records, we haven’t invited you to take this test right now."

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you. I am also based in Alberta Also, I just checked my application status and the citizenship test is not in progress yet.
Thank you!
It took around 1.5 hours from start to finish. Very well organized and the flow from one step to another was quite smooth.
The email covers all the instructions to be honest. Beyond that, you may want to have a Canadian flag in the background. Some people were very creative.
Also, for the oaths and the anthem, my spouse had kept an iPad open with the text/lyrics. Not essential but it helped.

I have a wild theory, so take it with a giant dollop of salt
I think Background Check pertains to RCMP + international background verification only. All the other other stuff is Prohibitions I think. Mostly baseless theory, but I switched jobs late last year several months after I applied for Citizenship. My new employer did an RCMP background check at that time. I am theorizing my background check progressed sooner than most others because RCMP had just run a check on me recently (maybe they reused that file somehow?). I didn't spend enough time outside Canada to require a check from another country either. So that's my guess.
