Marriage in country of origin for protected person

Hey guys,

I hope someone can share their insight or any information they might have. I would even appreciate any guesses in this regard.

My situation is that I am a protected person. Waiting for my PR application to be approved. I have someone back in my country. (Pakistan). We are truly separated by our situation and her family is waiting for me to return and marry her. Time is passing by but it will take forever to wait for my citizenship. So my question is:

Is there any exemption I could have?

Is the any other country I could travel to and marry?

Who should I talk to? Who can help? Apart from CIC.

Any clue what could happen?

There is no exemption available. You will only be able to travel to your country of origin safely (without jeopardizing your status in Canada) once you have citizenship.

Yes, you can certainly get married in another country.

Unfortunately I can't help you with that question. You would want to find a country where both of you can marry as visitors (i.e. without being residents) and where it's easy for both of you to travel and/or easy to obtain a visa. Your future spouse can also try applying for a TRV to come to Canada.

Either way, I would recommend holding off on these plans for now given all of the travel restrictions with COVID-19. Once things settle down, you can consider options.

Your passports. And two witness. Passport required for witnesses also. You can do it with your travel doc instead of passport. But let them no before. Cause RTD doesn't show your citizenship. It will take just one day, and one day for translation and legislation, if you need. Approximately 200usd, I don't remember exactly.
