Hi guys, I’m going to apply through EE under CEC category. My husband is already a permanent resident, and I decide to apply under EE instead of under the spouse sponsorship program. According to CIC website, you will be getting the same score as if you are single if your spouse is already a PR. However, my official marriage certificate will be sent to me after three to four months from now, but I can’t wait till then to get into the pool. As I don’t need my husband’s sponsor or any other relevant information to apply for EE, marriage or not doesn’t matter at all. Just wonder if I can use the record of solemnization that I got at the ceremony. Will I be refused if I don’t use marriage certificate? Any ideas? Thank you so much in advance.

First time I hear that if your spouse is PR than your score will be calculated as single. If you are married then your score will be calculated as married regardless your husband PR or not. You need to provide marriage certificate . My advice to wait for your marriage certificate and then apply.

You should submit an urgent request for your marriage certificate. If it is a huge delay to get it, you can try submitting the record of solemnization along with a letter of explanation.

That is indicated from CIC website. If your spouse is already a PR, then you apply without adding your spouse into your profile, which makes your points same as if you are single. If your spouse is not a PR, but you choose him/her not to accompany you in your application, you get the same result.
