There are also outliers on the short side, people who received citizenship with urgent processing! The short and the long ones will continue. The only way for the processing time to go down is if they actually process everything faster in general. You are just making up numbers.
First, Of course I am making up numbers. I said it was my theory
Second, you are completely wrong on the bold part. This is NOT the ONLY way. They can keep processing speed same for everybody and just increase processing speed for those applications that are languishing for a long time and average time will still come down.

Hi
Am eligible to apply for Citizenship for myself and my husband. Am confused if I should go for paper or Online? I know if I choose online I can only apply by myself and not along with my husband. He has to apply separately..
Any thoughts?

I had the same issue, whether to apply alone or to apply with my wife and kids.
I chose to apply online because my physical presence was completed end of Feb. My wife's time will be up some time in July. So I will apply for her and the kids at that time.
If both of you are completing physical presence at the same time, I would suggest apply together.

IMO, The numbers on the longer processing side are way larger than the shorter processing time numbers (due to covid obviously). So, you are wrong in saying that longer duration number and shorter duration number cancel each other out in averages and only faster processing can improve average processing time.

Same here.
Applied online for me since I completed my physical presence requirements. My wife and kid will apply together (paper) in July once they are eligible.

If you had some sort of temporary residence in Canada before you became PR, then each day before PR is counted as half a day spent in canada up to a maximum of one year.
Okay, it seems that some online applicants have gotten AOR except me... If the estimated processing time has actually gone up to 24+ months, glad I decided to renew my PR card at the same time. It only took me 2 months to get a new PR card.
