It has been 22 days since I last checked my citizenship application status on the portal.

It's a game I am playing to avoid checking the application status. Let's see how long I can wait before I give in to the temptation.

Can I also play? I have not checked the status of my application since submission. Got an email from IRCC yesterday that it is progress. AOR April 13th.

Just the opposite. I am quite impatient. However, being anxious about this will not make the IRCC move any faster. They will get to our file when they can. Cross your fingers that all will go smoothly as much as possible for everybody.

On average, how long does the background check take? Looking at the excel sheets posted in this forum, online applications take longer than the paper application. Does anyone have link to March 2022 citizenship applications. TY.

Paper application = CPC-Sydney will complete your background check within a few days of AOR if they are satisfied your name is clear. If there are people with similar names in the database, you will need to send fingerprints and it will take months depending on where you are and the citizenship office.
Online application = CPC-Sydney will throw darts to decide whose background check they want to do that day. It can take months to start the process, which will then take either a few days or months like the paper application.

Hi Everyone,
We applied through Paper filing for Family of 3 and the application was delivered on Mar 30, 2022. My lawyer say that they expect AoR to take 3-4 months.

However, based on forum it looks like almost everyone here have their AoR. CIC site says that right now they are processing applicationis recieved in the week of Apr 6, 2022.

Is it normal to take it more than a month to get AoR?

I think its perfectly normal. I sent my application around March 9th. I only got the AOR on Apr 26th. This was a family application.

Then they are requesting for a letter of explanation for gap in passport(couldn't renew because of lockdown) so livid right now, but sent it almost immediately. IRCC can be funny sometimes... but at least the file is moving. fingers crossed.

Yea, yesterday then got an actual email requesting for additional information(LOE) for the gap this morning 5am...lol

Ugh, due to your post I checked my application status. Everything is still in progress. Darn, now I will have to start my timer once again.

May 5th is the date I checked my application. Before this I had checked on April 12th.

Now the timer restarts, ugh
