I notice that the March 2012 thread is mainly for outland applications. Thought this would be a great time to start this one seeing is we are so close to AIP time. I am over the waiting game. Good luck everyone!

Hi. I noticed you had your visitor visa exended till next year. I am planning to do same. Any suggestions/advice? How much extension did they give you - 6 months? Also did you submit the application together with the Permanent Residence application as from what I read if you do both and the PR is declined they will also decline the extension at the same time

No, we did not request the visitor extension at the same time. The original entry was stamped in his passport for six months. We were married in February and sent in our application for Sponsorship in March. Following that we applied for the visitor visa extension based on the application as they ask you why you need to extend. Also, getting the extension will give you a valid government document and ID#. The fact that they gave it for a year is likely based on the length of time for applications to be processed for Spousal Sponsorship, give or take a few months.

I understand you to be saying that you got an extension for one year?
Also how soon after you s ubmitted the PR application did you submit that for the extension?
I understand too that you are applying from outside Canada too - correct?

Yes, the extension was given for one year from the date of the initial six months end to the initial visitor stamp. The visitor visa extension application was sent about a month after the PR application was sent in. This is an inland application. We should be hearing something very soon about the Sponsorship as the application processing time has sped up dramatically.

hi,

you can request 1year extension. i did that last sep. of 2011 and they grant my request.
my status will expire on 30th of sep this year. i applied for another extension last sep17.
i have 3 application submitted.

sounds like you're applying from within Canada - inland application since you apply for work permit extension as you know with outland applications i.e. outside of Canada you dont get work permit.

i did not include open wrk permit with my application.
my initial wp application was first applied b4 my sponsorship application unfortunately it was refused because the lawyer of the company that is hiring me sent my application inside canada. it should be sent outside. the company re applied my wp to newyork after a month when my sponsorship application was received by vegreville office.

Hi...i am new to this forum....applied our case in march 2012....file was recieved on 12th march 2012.....and since then i have seen no update whether the case is in process or not....the application processing times say working on feb 7 2012 cases which is making me very hopeful.....just wondering if any of the march applicants here have got any update from the immigration people so far ?????
