I have the same problem. no approval yet. and there is no way the call centre agents will tell you. because we moved from step 1. got aor. so call centre will not be able to tell you what is going on with the file.

Can anybody help with this one? Does the London office do passport requests for British citizens? Is a passport request just so they can add a visa in to it? I am just wondering because we are planning on a trip to Canada for two weeks in Sept - Oct. We are not expecting to be done with the process by then but there is a possability. Do we need to send a passoprt for them to add a visa or can we just land without that, or do we even need it as we are fron a visa exempt country?
Thanks
Hey Sway_in_de_wind,
As british citizens are visa-exempts, they don't request the passport anymore. Once the decision is made, they will issue a COPR (confirmation of PR, on a separate paper) and you can land with that. so you can plan your trip. If the COPR has arrived at that time, you can go, land with it, and go back to the UK to wrap up things. you will be officially PR and you can go back and forth.
If the PR has not arrived by that time, you can go as a tourist, return to the UK - and wait for the next trip to Canada!
good luck,
Sweden

The call centre agents are useless. They can't really help. All they can do is check the computer system or perhaps make notes if the circumstances warrant it.
They've been okay when I called, but certainly not overly helpful or willing to go that extra mile. One agent told me I'm in their system (payment received). Called back a few weeks later and the agent said no record of anything. They're low level employees...it's a call centre, after all.
I can't even contact CIC-M because I live outside Canada. How awesome is that? Makes perfect sense to ensure the 'client' has zero access to the location where the application was sent. Oh sure, I could fax them, but who sends a fax in this day and age??
At least CIC shows they are working on April applications. Then again, you never really know what the hell is going on, or whether the information posted on their site is reliable. I think we all know by now that we can't count on CIC, only ourselves, and only this forum. Really sad state...

Have you tried calling using skype? When I am in Mexico my skype still thinks im in Toronto and it doesnt charge me long distance to make callls home and I had to call some 1800 numbers and they all worked.. just a thought... if you have a skype account created in Canada I think it will work..

I was wondering if you heard anything??
Yesss I did.. I just wanted to get caught up on the new posts before I posted mine..
I got my approval today!!!
So I set all the numbers into my phone and called non stop from 8 - 8:30 .. I think I called 20 times and each time they just hung up the call .. I am shocked by this system they have of disconnecting the call after u spend all that time dialing all the prompts… anyways I called one last time right before I arrived at work and got through.. I had to hold for about 10 minutes.. I told the girl I was calling since I hadn’t heard anything further and the website stated April 2nd.. the woman was in shock and said the last she heard it was February 29th then she put me on hold and told me she would need to confirm that.. I was like ohh great this is going well if they don’t even know what day they are working on…
Lol anyways she came back and said they send a letter in the mail for me dated July 3rd and that I was approved!! I was sooooooooooooooooooooo happy!!
I asked her how they will send my application to Mexico she said “diplomatic mail” which is some sort of government mail? She said Mexico would start the application at the beginning of august and that the embassy would be contacting my husband going forward..
