Maintaining status

Hi everyone, I need help on this. I have submitted my EE file on Oct 11. But still I have some issues regarding maintaining my status in Canada.

My study permit expired in September 2024, and I am currently on implied status while awaiting my work permit. However, this work permit is also set to expire on December 10, 2024. My employer has informed me that my status document must remain valid; otherwise, they may have to terminate my employment. Considering the current job conditions in Canada, I am very concerned about not losing my job.

Could you please advise if it is acceptable to apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) while my work permit application is still in process? If yes, could you guide me on the application process and provide details on the expected processing time?
