Do we need to get transit visa when we are passing by UK.
another note, I checked on couple of airlines website , most of them are giving 23 kg backage allowance + 7 kg hand laggage. But Ethihad is giving 46 kg. please check this.
My time line as here besid and my passports were received at LVO on 22nd Nov, 2012.
I wish that the new year will bring good news to all of us and that all our dreems become true.
Try to have a vacation from thinking about ur application for two weeks and enjoy the christmas and new year celebrations.
Plz come out from the life stress and the strees of following up ur application .
I assume that we will start to hear some good news only after 5th Jan, 2013 after LVO are back to their normal work activity

Well once last year, I got a very economical deal through Orbitz from Abu Dhabi to Toronto via London. This involved a combination of Etihad & British Airways, so a Terminal change at Heathrow was also required ( terminal 4 to 5). Interestingly no one asked me for a UK visa on any terminal at Heathrow. However, I was asked at Abu Dhabi airport prior to boarding if I had a UK transit visa. I told them I didn't require it as I had a valid UK visit visa since last year and, of-course, that was accepted. Similarly, on my return BA flight from Toronto to London, the lady at counter ensured that I had a UK visa before issuing my boarding pass.

Sure Anpudan - Emirates & Etihad both are the best direct options. The only reason people sometimes look for other options is (a) relatively higher fare and (b) long 14 hours flight time that could be extremely tiring. End of the day, it is entirely your choice. If you are fine with both of the above factors, choose one of these. As for me, I have flown both direct & indirect & didn't find any major difference.
But before we finalize our flights, please do pray for our PPs to come back soon. Good luck!

Thanks Sami. I missed this post to read. It is really informative. One of my friend recently passed by UK. But they did not ask for a UK valid visa from him.
As you said lets receive the passports first. My medical also expiring in end of April.
