Lost previous passport with canadian student visa?

I lost my previous passport which was stamped with canadian student visa(expired). Now i have applied for
permenent resident FSW. I just want to know that does embassy require previous passport to see that I lived
legally in Canada or not?

Do they have record of my entry/ exit so that they can track it?

Dear WMK

Yes, they askfor old passport detail at the time of detail application and also ask for old passport at the time of passport request.
While entering in Canada tracking is done but not at the time of exit.
