Instead of letterhead you can also take the international driving license made from your local RTO...
Generally the agents charge 4-5K for this. This driving license is valid in Canada for 6 months & in the meanwhile you can start processing the license in Canada...
Guys, I have over 5 years of driving experience and have done with letter following all requirements etc.
1- My question is, with this experience and proof, still I will go for G2 driving test if I want G2 only for the moment?
2-for G2 driving test, do they take us on High ways or do they have special test place?
thanks.
1. Yes, you would need to give the road test regardless. First it is the written test for G1 followed by the road test for G2.
2. When applying for the G2, there is no highway test. There are designated test centres where you go to give your road test.
Hi,
I recently came to Toronto and going through the same pain. Sent one of my relative to Transport Authority in Delhi but he couldn't convince the officer, he kept on telling there is no such letter issued by them.
I think I need to show a sample to actually convince them back home. Can someone share a copy of what you got, perhaps hiding your personal details to ensure confidentiality.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hello Hari,
I am from Bangalore too... One thing I know that's it's almost impossible to get any such letter from Bangalore unless u meet the RTO in person. What I would highly recommend is to get a license from India with chip as it has all driving records.. This will exempt you for making any such stupid letter... Remember u should have clear driving records ... I got drivers license from home town instead cox it was easy to bribe in home town than in bangalore.. Hoe my reply helps u
Regards

Friends, Can anyone respond to query ?
I'd like to share some new information about using the international drive license in Ontario which is allowed for 60 days after landing for PR. BUT if we apply for Ontario drive license and receive G1 license as first step (even for drive experience person out side Canada) we are no more allowed to use our international drive license even within the 60 days and problem when we try to book road test it take more than a month for next appointment so during the period between issuing the G1 and do the road test for G2 or G we cant use our international drive license and we can use only G1 license even within the 60 days from landing. this is problem because we cant drive car alone with G1 license and will stuck until doing road test and receiving G2 or G drive license.

There is no such exemption mentioned for chip based licenses mentioned in ontario license rules and besides are these chips even readable by ontario/canadian authorities. I think these chips can only be read by the machines of the traffic police or RTO.
