I have heard that you can't leave anything blank.

For spots like pg 2 of the general application where they ask you for a fax number. Do I leave it blank or hand write in "NA" after I print. the fillable form wont let you type it in.

Another example is on Schedule A pg 1 where there is a box for parent's deceased date. If they are still living leave blank or hand write in NA?

Also spots on the Sponsored Spouse Questionnaire where you can tick NO or Yes. and if you tick Yes they ask you to explain below. What if you tick NO. do you leave the space below blank or write in NA?

For my app i left all the boxes and sections you indicated completely blank.

Although in some cases i hand wrote in some sections after i printed out the doc (i.e. for date questions instead of putting an end date to something that was still ongoing i would write in " to present").

It didn't seem to affect my application any. If you don't want to leave anything blank, i don't think it matters at all if you just write in "N/A" in any of the boxes.

You can leave blank for minor things that won't affect your application. The fact that you have a fax number or not for example is not crucial to your application. For your parents - leave it blank - if there is no date, it means they are still alive.

Where it's important to put N/A is when you are asked about dependents... if you don't put anything, CIC can not be completely sure that you understood the question, and it has some consequences - if your dependents are not declared AND medically examined ( even if they don't come with you to Canada at that point), they can NEVER be sponsored. So in some cases, CIC has returned the form to the person so they could write N/A ( no dependent), before they could proceed with the rest of the application.

Good luck,
Sweden

This basically.

Thanks for the replies.

One more Question. Oddly enough I went through the immigration forms my wife filled out and there isn't any questions about dependents. There also isn't even a question that asks if she has children (she hasn't). I find this odd, especially since I was asked if I had children in the sponsorship forms.

I hope I am not missing something. Can one of you guys point to me exactly where it asks about dependents? I really apprecaite it.

* on her general application form there was a button that asked her if she wanted to remove the area that is there to fill in dependents info. Should she have left that?

Hi The form IMM5406E Additional Family Information asks about dependents/children

when you leave the adopted/step children section with a N/A I think they do the math. it means no children for either of you.

also there is a section the sponsor fills out with regards to dependents form IMM5481E

Hope this helps!
