My study permit is expired but I have a valid visa. I have to go home and return. I have already applied for study permit two months ago. What kind of issues I can face at the while returning if my study permit is still not released by the time I come. I know the ircc website says that you may be allowed to enter as below.
we may let you enter as a visitor. In this case, you can’t study until you get your extended study permit. The officer at the port of entry may also ask you to prove you have enough money to support yourself in Canada.
A border officer may have some questions for you when you arrive back in Canada. If the officer believes there’s reason to refuse your re-entry, you won’t be able to re-enter Canada. The officer may ask you for a copy of your extension application, the fee payment receipt, or any other document to prove you applied for an extension.
You enter as a visitor and cannot study until permit is approved. So yes, you should show that you can support yourself since you cannot study or work until approval. When are you planning on returning prior to start of studies?
I am fine with not studying. I plan to return in a month around end of February. I think I also have sufficient financial support when I return. By then it will be three months since my application.

My program is already on and I just need one more semester to complete my studies. I am doing research studies and do not have coursework. So fine stopping for a month or so. Tuition fees 4k for the last semester. And yes I have the 21k. Plus some more.
I haven't stopped studying. I am just doing my final research project needed for my completion. By that time I have almost finished. And can wait till my permit comes.

So you said you are fine with not studying but now doing research studies outside Canada without a study permit. So that time doesn’t count towards PGWP and may be considered part-time too.

You would not be able to do your research either that is considered studying. If you lose implied status that would also mean your studies weren’t continuous full-time putting your PGWP at risk.
Update. I was about to travel today to Canada. However the airline did not allow me to. It seems the airline contacted the border control. The reason I was given is that they don't have my applications in process. Which I do not believe.

Your study permit was no longer valid and you left Canada so looks like your TRV was likely cancelled as you are not entitled to study in Canada anymore. I did point out that you would lose the ability to study if you left Canada because you were on implied status. IRCC took it one step further and appears to have cancelled your TRV. Would follow up to confirm your TRV has been cancelled. If so, you’ll be stuck abroad until you get a new TRV or have your study permit approved. You will have to update your study permit application to indicate you are no longer in Canada.
