It was a very long journey...
I applied for my PR under family class (inland) on October 2013. My partner got approved for my sponsor on February 2015, and I got the notice of the landing interview this week.(I also checked my application status on the web page which said "Decision Made".)
I am such a negative person and get over nervous. I hated the feeling of not knowing when news would arrive, but now that the interview is so close, I feel more anxious than ever.
I am ok speaking English with my partner, but I'm not very good speaking to strangers so I am very worried about the landing interview. I read lots of posts about the landing interviews saying it will be very easy and it would take only 5mins.
The reason I am so nervous is because officers might have a lot of questions about my life like,
-I have extended my visitor visa few times (I first came to Canada in 2007 with a Working Holiday visa.)
-I have no contact with my family at all now, and they didn't attend our wedding ceremony at a City Hall but, they have helped me financially during my stay here.
-I have applied for Refugee Protection, and I asked to postpone the first hearing and I cancelled a second time to apply for PR visa.
My situation looks like I got married just for visa, but my partner and I are a happily married couple (my old roommate introduced his best friend and it was her)
We hired a lawyer to make this application perfect, and while it was being processed, CIC didn't contact us for any interviews until now.
Here is a list of what I want to know about...
1) my status on the website is Decision Made, and I got the date of the landing interview. Is there any chance the officers might ask me bunch of question about the things I am nervous about?
Or will I be refused after the interview?
What is the difference between the interview I see many people talk about on this forum and the interview which I am going to next week?
(They expect me to pay for PR card fee and bring 2 photos of me, so I assumed it is the landing interview.)
2) CIC office in another city has been keeping my passport since I applied for Refugee Protection, and I only have a paper of "refugee protection claimant document".
I have used this for getting my criminal records from Canada and my country, or whenever I have needed to show my passport.
I have to bring my valid passport for the interview, but can I bring this document instead? Or should I call CIC office to send my passport back?
3) On a list of the things I have to bring, it says "all the documents issued to me by CIC".
What kind of documents should I bring for example?
It might be great if I can bring all the previous visas I had applied, but some expired ones are lost. Will it affect the result of my PR visa?
I tried to find out which documents CIC meant, but I couldn't find anywhere. It will be appreciated if anybody can write down what I need to bring.
I can't stop thinking about this all day and it worries me so much. I keep thinking "what if the officer refuses my application and picks me out of this country".
Anybody could share their stories about the landing interview??
I really don't want to fail this so I want to be well-prepared.
Thanks
