hi! I sent our passports to Buffalo on March 2, and hope we can get them by the end of this month and then proceed the landing. One question, we will land in border between US /Canada, and I know that for new immigrats, we can declare our goods/belongings without paying the tariff/tax, so I called the border of service that we can tell the customs when we land, because we will go back to our home country by the end of this year, and bring those stuffs back to canada, do anyone have experience and anyone knows the maxi value that we can bring ? ( eg: watches, jewellery..)
There are no restrictions on the amount of money that you can bring into or take out of Canada, nor is it illegal to do so.
However, you now have to report to a border services officer amounts equal to or greater than CAN$10,000, or its equivalent in a foreign currency that you are bringing into or taking out of Canada.

it doesn't matter, I won't bring anything to declare when I land between the border US and Canada. But just my hubby will go back to our home country few months later, and he will bring the stuffs that we need to declare , means the value is unlimited for the 1st time immigrate.

I understand that you also have to declare amounts over $10,000 when you leave the USA.
