JUST HEARD MY VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED!!! Now for a question...

Hurrah! Just got an email today to say my PR visa has been approved and I am to send my passport to London for it to be processed. I am so chuffed to bits!!!

One question, (and forgive me if I am being dumb) the instructions say I should include a 'self-addressed' envelope for the return of my passport after processing. Do they pay the postage for this, and if so, do they send it back special delivery? Or, do I have to pre-pay the postage for my self-addressed return envelope? I greatly appreciate help with this. In the all the hysteria I'm a bit mashed!!!!

Well congrats!!
From what I've read in previous posts, if you pre pay the postage, it's better. You'll get your passports back faster (if you paid for express post). If you wait on immigration, it will be sent by regular mail!! (Plus, I'm not sure they pay to have it posted!)

Hi, I had mine in December, I sent just an envelope with my address on it, it was return either by special delivery or registered mail, can't remember which now, but I remember I had to sign for it. Congratulations.

My husband is in Bristol, he sent it to London with a prepaid envelope for express delivery for next day. It cost him about 2 quid I think. He paid it for peace of mind. If they sent it regular mail it could be a week... He had his passport back with his visa in just under 2 weeks I believe.

Congratulations!!! It's so great you finally heard!!!!! We just got our PPR Wednesday but are planning to take it person /pick it up in london (although based in Manchester - lol!! we don't trust the post!). I think if you pre-pay postage it would probably certainly help and then you'd know it would definitely go quickly through the post system on the return journey!

I included a return FedEx envelope (to Canada), but they didn't like the waybill, so the passport was returned in a signed-for Royal Mail letter that they had paid for. The passport spent about two days in transit, so I was impressed!

One more thing, when my passport comes back with the visa in it, what happens next? When do I get my PR card? Upon landing in Canada? I have paid all the necessary fees up front at the beginning of my application.

You get your PR card about 30 days after landing. Remember that you're not a PR until you've actually landed.

Thanks Swede. I'm sending off my passport today. I assume you have to let the authorities know when you land what your address will be in order for them to send the PR card, or do you have to collect it from them? At the moment, my partner and I don't have a forwarding address but we could use my in-laws address. I'm confused as to how this all works! ???
