Very sorry to read this
The only problem I see here is your funds being a Fixed Deposit, what I have observed in this forum is that for Visitor Visa atleast they specifically look for liquid funds i.e. Savings/Current Account and do not consider FDs.
How long was visit? Because $15k in FD is not cash and not a lot for 3 people. People are refused for 2 people having $20k in cash. Does spouse have cash to show even though not accompanying?
If you had wanted to attend the wedding, you should have applied alone. This would have created ties to return.

So rightly refused with only $2k for 3 people. $2k is probably airfare for one person. You want around $20k cash for 3 people for a 2 week visit. That is a long visit with such low funds. $2k lasts a few days.
You need to account for all the basic expenses atleast, around CAD 2.5k per head for Flight Tickets, and even though your Invitor might have provided you an Invitation Letter assuring stay and food, you will still need to factor those in your funds declaration.
