Requesting GCMS notes has nothing to do with the processing of your application. The GCMS notes are processed and released under the Access to Information Act where as the processing of your application happens under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Also, if you have a lawyer or consultant representing you in your application, you can still request your GCMS notes yourself, and there is no need to either go through the lawyer or consultant.
The consent form (IMM 5744) that you provide for the GCMS notes, does not replace or authorise the person to act on your behalf in your application. It only authorises them to obtain your GCMS notes.
Also, when you request the GCMS notes, your consultant or lawyer is not informed. The GCMS notes after being released will be sent to you at the email id you provided.

I appreciate your thoughtful wishes, and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving Day to you and your loved ones.
