initially when I got the citizenship test within 5 months of the application date, I thought that the process was quicker and my eta for the oath ceremony would be sometime in august/september 2023....
Now that the waiting time is long,, i almost gave up checking my status everyday. I check the status once every two weeks.. same since then LPP in progress. This might be a non-routine application sicne my wifey and kids got their name changed (splitted first and last name)
I hope something might come next month. I am planning to travel on Christmas and I hope not nothing would come before that . just fingers crossed
They do explain what would make an application non-routine here:
https://www.ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1169&top=5
In my case, I was required to submit fingerprints, which would make my application non-routine.
In my case I don't fall into any of those bullet points and I still haven't seen any real update since the test done in May (no BG, no LPP, no nothing)...so why is the non-routine thing not arbitrary?

"Arbitrary" would imply that there is no reasoning, but as noted, there is reasoning.
In any case, I get it, it's frustrating. I thought my application would be very simple and straightforward. I need to renew my PR card now because it's taking so long.

I understand what arbitrary means and what's why I used that word. There's a list of "reasons", but none of that applied to me...so I ask again, why is this not arbitrary?

No BG till now means your application is stuck on a comprehensive security check(CSIS). You can confirm that by calling the IRCC call centre.

I used the web form to ask about what's with that, but didn't get a reply. Would calling make any difference?
Also, this situation is not mentioned in the "non-routine" situations...so ya, it's still arbitrary

No one will respond to your webform. You have to call the call centre at 8 a.m. and ask about the status of your security and criminality.
For me :
Criminality

PASSED
Security info is somehow missing the dates section - only half page with name is present.

For my Spouse :

As seen from GCMS, due date is irrelevant. We are already past the due dates and Eligibility, Security and Criminality has not started yet. Suspecting it may be changing soon.
Finally, After some movement in file after GCMS notes, our Citizenship Test is cleared today - November 14, 2023.
Still waiting for LPP which is on progress and looking forward for next steps.

You seem to be operating under the assumption that your application is non-routine. It might not be. Or, there may be something holding it up that you don't realize (like security clearance, as mentioned). You can call them and talk to them, and you can request your GCMS notes to gain clarity into your situation.

I did ATIP before, but I didn't ask for CSIS specifically cos at that time I didn't realize that could be THE issue. But I blame it on RC-8090...it's been discussed to death about the series of unfortunate events that can happen if your file gets transferred there.
Just posting here to keep the dream alive!
I'm totally out of my witts now. I haven't had any updates since 14th April 2023 (Apart from a ghost update on Oct 27th). No LPP. Ordered ATIP 3 times. The latest one again went to eGrants - PE. LPP shows not started, however, it has a due date of December 30th, 2023, but I don't know if it means anything, or if they even honor it. Sending an email to the Sydney office gets a response "I am not allowed to send emails to this address". Wrote an email to our MP and it got no response whatsoever.
Anyone else here is stuck in the same boat?

Your timeline looked very much like mine and a few others I saw from RC-8090. Is Sydney your processing office?
