Biometrics updated! Yay. @melylags check yours.
Does that mean biometrics are passed? Or do I need to wait for the Fingerprint section to clear up because it still says we need your fingerprints to process your application

Wow that is crazy. Rainbow is the closest bridge from where my husband and I cross (whirlpool bridge for nexus card holders). I live closest to the peace bridge like 10-15 min drive. Queenstown Lewiston is the one most commonly used and heavy traffic and farthest from me. The officers there were the ones who told me to do the nexus to begin with.
It so insane. I mean I'm in a situation where I'll most likely have to do a soft landing when I get approved and actually settle next year. But just to tell my husband, he's coming down this weekend to see me, both PA and Sponsor have to be present? And this can only be done during the week and on Saturdays? Just trying to figure this out. What kind of questions did they ask her? I am pretty sure I can still travel back and forth by car without a PR card as long as that COPR is on me.
Oh and how early is too early? Just cannot believe you went through this. I mean geez how does that work when someone actually settles. I was told by officers if I arrived with a u-haul it would be a relatively fast and easy process since I'd be moving my things myself and not with a moving company, but damn you guys went through a lot.
No I don’t believe both sponsor and PA were needed, but I was off and wanted to be there with my wife as she validated her COPR. In terms of questions, I honestly don’t believe they asked her anything much other than validated where our mailing address was etc.
It can only be done Tues-Thurs, they stopped doing it any other days. I know a previous colleague of mine got his done a few months back in the evening (7pm) on a Thursday at the QL bridge.
You are correct, you can travel into Canada with the COPR by land, just not by air.
I can’t comment on how early as it was anecdotal info from the person sitting next to us waiting to have their COPR validated, he just mentioned they wouldn’t allow them (and others) wait in the parking lot until 8am. They had to flagpole again later to try as close to 8am as possible. Very odd process if you ask me.
The other important piece of info from the CBSA was that there is a one time exemption for taxing any goods you’re moving to Canada and the list has to be provided to them when they validate the COPR. They also said that we didn’t need to worry about clothing and shoes, unless the items were really expensive. If you’re moving furniture, expensive artwork, etc you need to give them that list when you land. Otherwise you’ll be taxed when you bring them in.
This is good news!!! congrats!!
Shouldn't you post this on the April thread though? lol Seems to me like it would be more relevant to applicants there. I say this because your timeline is regarding an April application as opposed to everyone in this thread (January).
