I meant cross the border..... there is only an interview if your work permit is expired... in my case my wife’s work permit is expired

I don't know what caused this additional step. But I know it has happened in 2018 for few folks...

I also saw some note about WP expiry , My wife's work permit is valid till 2020 June, so that did not cause this additional step for her. Anyways I will post updates after May 7th to let you all know if this was a good thing or a bad thing

I have a friend who went through this interview, but in Ottawa.

She's Russian, CEC inland and applied with her husband (who's a student). She applied in September and got the interview email in February. Her work permit was indeed about to expire a month from the email, but she could have extended it easily (since her husband is a student).

Interview? This is new.. Do you know why did they call you out for an interview?

It's just another form of landing. No need to send passports or to wait for visa. But it's only for inland applicants I assume. My friend had one last year too.

Sent RCMP criminal record on March 21st
Eligibility : In Progress
Background check : In Progress

Progress bar is showing as 13 weeks left. Just patiently waiting now

Try to call cic and ask them about your eligibilty, criminality and security.
I am in the same boat.

MEP: April 10,2019
PPR: April 25, 2019.

Here we are January AOR 2019 hoping and waiting for the request.

I haven’t received BIL instructions as well, and I am also worried. My details are
FSW-OutlandCountry -USA
AOR-30th January
MEP-14th March

Although I am Outland, I am in Canada at the moment and I just extended my visiting status in February. So I am not sure if that is why I have not received BIL.

If you have submitted biometrics as part of your visitor/tourist visa, you probably won't need to resubmit them again.
