Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding ITA's requirement for police certificates. I have been away from my home country for the last 10 years for study and work. The longest periods I have spent back home were about 1 month per year. That totals up to 10-12 months over the last 10 years, but none exceeds 6 months in a row.

In your opinion, do I need to obtain police certificate from my home country?

Well,in your case its not in a row ,but as its your hime country they might ask after Aor if they want .
Rule says "
You don’t need to give us police certificates for any period of time before you were 18 years old or for time spent in Canada.

After you apply, an officer may ask for additional police certificates from any time in your life since you were 18 years old"

Source- https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...-permanent-residence/police-certificates.html

Then it would waste your time and money you have spent for ITA.

So better to get it done.

Just want to know ,are you out of your home country since the day you turned 18 years or after that.

Thanks for the reply. I was not yet 18 when I left my home country for study. So if I can prove that to CIC then it would be unnecessary for a police certificate?

Then ,I believe,it is not required.

Hi.. can someone help me urgently..
I upgraded my profile after receiving my trf score.. and now my score is 480.. I am expecting an ITA in the next draw.. however, I want to renew my passport as it will expire in 8 months..
My query is.. should I withdraw my profile or let the ITA come on my old passport number and then later submit a LOR..
Please reply..

You wouldnt have updated the score at first place .
Anyways, if you get an invite ,decline it and after gettng a new passport accept the invitation.
You can apply with you old passport as well but I suggest you get a new passport because by the time your application is approved, you'll have maybe a month or two left on your passport. CIC requires a minimum of 6 months validity and in some cases, one year.
Get a new passport and update CIC with the new info.

You can just enter the previous score details again and prevent yourself from getting an ITA ,but its risky as everything is recorded in the system.
So definitely wont suggest you that.

Thank you for replying.. so should I decline the invitation? Will it not arise any question?

Well, with such score you will get ITA after next draw also. So, you can decline it and ilcan explain in an loe why you have declined it. Its upto you to explain it.CiC wont ask you a reason unless there is a flaw in your file.

If they have given an option to decline ITA,they know people come across problems while collecting documents.

You can update your new Passport information later. So go with old one now.
Concentrate on getting ITA, not in Passport issues.

Thank you for responding.. so when I update my new passport number.. will they ask me a letter of explanation?

Before getting Visa. You can send new passport details to IRCC by Web form.
