Hi I am new to this forum & i seek your valuable guidance. I did four years Bachelors degree in Computer Science (B.tech) in 2007 but landed into family business. During this period i did some certifications just to be in touch with studies but no real time experience. I am moving to Surrey (BC) Canada, So please guide how to start from very scratch and what should be done Studies or any job. Please help me out as I am 32 & whole new struggling life is in front of me.
Hello....are u currently in Canada or India ?? Even I was a manual tester back home (mumbai) and just got my PPR yesterday...have to start a job hunt soon , pretty nervous
Finding someone from the same background feels good Let me know if u find anything useful..
Hey Rishab...good post and m sure it will help and motivate many new immigrants...
Even I am in the same position now and have to start a job hunt soon , could u pls send a sample CV format to my email as well pshweta2487@gmail.com
I am currently in Canada on visitor visa and my PR timeline on left...manual tester by profession and had 6 yrs work ex back home, could u guide if I should go for any courses, certifications or should apply for job ...and how's the market here for IT...
I haven't been active in this thread for a while. How's everyone doing? I'm in IT as well but I decided to do contract work for now, it's not too bad considering that you can get laid off regardless if you're contract or perm. ;D
Ready to answer questions. Fire away!
By the way, I saw some people asking about tester jobs. Here in Edmonton, CWB and ATB Financial will have job postings looking for QA analyst and testers. Mostly. There will be some government positions here and there (my friend is with GoA Justice and does that).
I am also a new immigrant and plan to land in july/august. i am a IT technical support guy and and started job hunt. anyone living in canada can suggest which city to start with ?
Thanks
I can only speak for Edmonton, job market isn't so bad, just be prepared to accept contract work for now (6 months or less), companies are slashing capital expenditure projects and cutting down on operational costs, so most only require resources on a project basis. Would be good idea to research on who are the staffing agencies here (like Randstad, Eagle, Tantus, etc.) and submit your resume to their website. They should be able to match you with existing contract opportunities.
Hello Please can you also send me a draft of your resume, i am currently awaiting ppr, and i would love to start my job search early, am into Networking/ Telecomm Engineering toluwanidaramola@gmail.com
Good information for new immigrants coming to CANADA. I may be one of the newcomer. I am in IT field from INDIA. Having experience of HARDWARE, NETWORKING. My Med. is done in may 2016 and waiting for PPR.
