Travelled from India to Canada with 18 hr layover at Rome. It was Air India - Air Canada connecting flight. I didn't require transit visa.

im travelling from india to canada via rome and i have a different airline from rome to canada where i have to take my luggage and board another flight, wanted to know if it was the similar situation for you and did you go through immigration and customs. Is canadian visa valid to go through customs and immigration?
