Lol I had the same feeling that it can't be true. My LPP was actually done on June 1st, tracker got updated today. But yes they do send updates on weekends too. All my updates came on the weekend.

There is. When you click on "in progress" the next page will show, when they started processing your file. In my case it says like this-


Citizenship

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on September 14, 2022.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on October 7, 2022.
3. We started processing your application on January 8, 2023.

If you applied online

Log in here https://citapply-citdemande.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/successful-submission
That will show the date you submitted your application

Then log in here https://tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/dashboard
That will show the date the file was created and started being processed.

These dates also match in my GCMS notes (Date created vs date status changed to in progress) hope that helps

I am using the tracker, I'm just curious why they started processing their application 7 months or so later after he applied and what's the equivalent of "starting" in the tracker?

I am using the tracker, I'm just curious why they started processing their application 7 months or so later after he applied and what's the equivalent of "starting" in the tracker?

ECAS is literally an outdated Tool that is no longer maintained by IRCC their call centre agents will tell you to create a tracker account.

ECAS status changes when BG is complete so the tacker should be the source of truth, not an old tool that IRCC does not update or put resources anymore
