hi all,
I’m creating this thread as I know a lot of us are stuck for weeks with our applications being processed at the Montreal office. I suggest that we can share here updates and progress to see movement timelines of our apps!
For me:
Application received: August 1
AOR: September 26
Medical requested: October 30
Medical done: November 14
Application processing start: February 21
Sponsor Approval and DM: March 11
Radio silence since that last communication in March...
Good luck to everyone in this process!
My timeline is almost identical, but with SA in mid-April. No movement since. On GCKey, background check still hasn’t started and eligibility is still being reviewed.

FYI my understanding is that Montreal is facing mass backlogs of months or more.
Wish they would say why, at least. All I heard was “work sharing” but many people who applied months later than the Montreal group already have PR!

Yes I have heard that too that there is a 6-8 month delay from the moment they start processing the application but it’s not impossible that they may catch up eventually so it’s a good opportunity here to see any movements for any of us.
The more I think about it, the more I suspect we’re stuck in line behind all 18,000 Skilled Worker applications that Quebec was refusing to process... I know it’s separate streams but there are only so many officers and they can only work so fast. Sigh. Why they had to send us to Quebec...

They will get pressured to process eventually, they can’t have one office that notoriously goes over the 12 month mark, good thing is that they may process it fast once they get to it, being less thorough on the check and just approving stuff! Let’s be patient, it will come eventually

They already do have notoriously slow offices, though... London and New Delhi visa offices for Outland applicants, Vancouver for people doing landing interviews (backlog is 3+ months from receiving letter to getting appointment!) and it’s just bad luck for those who get stuck. It’s known but they can’t (or don’t) fix it. And Quebec has had backlogs for years with no fix!
Hopefully you’re right, though

Yeah I suspected that as well as it coincided with the dates our files were sent there. Perhaps CIC sent ours there as a way of saying "well since you have more time now you can process these files"?
Though in March, people in Quebec rebelled against the cancellation of the 18,000 skilled worker applications so the Montreal office now has to process those applications (until they pass that bill into law) in addition to our files..

Yes, precisely! Which would explain how Mississauga got so fast...
Beginning to think Mtl has just given up.

I know mate, it’s really tough to see how slow this thing is going compared to others but it will come, this is testing our patience lol

Agreed, there have been barely any updates from anyone
I have seen a timeline of someone processed in the Montreal office with a « we started processing your application on Jan 25th » on ECAS who got DM on PA side on May 5...
Now bear in mind, it’s a May applicant but nevertheless, it’s great to see someone processed in the Montreal office moving along!!!
My question is: if they have so many applications to process, and we see other applicants from November being processed in other hubs already getting landing letters, why don't they transfer those delayed applications to those hubs?! That would make it so easier and faster.
