Inland spousal sponshorship. Can my wife leave and come back?

So I am curious,

We may have gotten a little suprise(AKA baby) and we've applied inland in september, applied for extended stay and open work permit, but we havent heard anything back yet.

Is it possible for my wife to leave and have her baby in South Korea and come back without forfeiting the application?

She can leave - however there is no guarantee she will be allowed back into Canada. If she's not allowed back into Canada this will forfeit her application. Since she is visa exempt, chance are quite high she should be able to re-enter Canada without any issues. However there is always some chance of refusal (even if very small).
