I am a canadian citizen married to a greek in greece for the last 15 years with 2 kids. I am planning in retuning to canada in about 3 months with my family. and i am confused if i should appli inland oroutland to sponsor my husband. it looks like the office that processes outland is in rome and times are about 12 months in total.
With the inland sponsorship there is a recent program that grants you a working permit in 4 months! because it will be diffficult for a family of 4 on only 1 income. so does that mean that i have to do my income taxes there first and then apply for the inland sponsorship and wait 4 months or would it be better to do outland and wait 12 months +2 while being in canada.
Any help would be very appreciated!!!
I'm no expert in closed work permits but as far as I know if you get fired or you quit, your permit (and status) would be cancelled at some time before the expiry date. You would need to change status to visitor to stay in Canada legally. Once employer informs CIC she is no longer working with them, only then will steps be taken to revoke the permit (not sure how long the process takes).
Same as for someone here on a study permit, who then drops out of school. Their permit would be cancelled before the expiry date showing.
To clarify, a person can remain in Canada on a closed work permit even if they leave their job. Unless CIC formally revokes the work permit, which they rarely actually do, the person may remain in Canada while the permit is valid. Of course, they cannot work anywhere else.
