I have been reading numerous posts and even called Alberta Healthcare, still everything seems to be confusing. I came to Canada in June and my husband sent an application for inland spousal sponsorship last month. Haven't heard anything from CIC. I have a multiple entry visitor's visa that expires in 2017. I do understand that as a visitor, I'm only allowed to stay for a maximum of six months unless otherwise stated. I called Alberta Healthcare today and they said that I can come in and they would be able to give me health care coverage under my husband's account for two months. Then the lady said that I would get coverage until my visa expires and I can send them my PR card (once it arrives) to update everything on file. Everything is very confusing and the more I read, the more confusing it gets. If someone can help me with the following queries, that will be very helpful.
1) Although CIC should be acknowledging my inland application soon, do I still need extend to extend my stay?
2) I will be applying for an open work permit once CIC sends an acknowledgement of the application. I do understand that I can get my health card then but I am wondering if I can get it any sooner?

With Alberta Health you will be cover for Six Months from the date of your entry (Passport Stamp) for first time. After 6 months if you want to renew your Health Care you have to submit :-
1) Either, new Canada entry document ( Alberta Health will not consider your passport stamp 2nd time, you need a document from Immigrations)
2) or, your first positive decision letter from CIC.
