I have recently applied for inland family class sponsorship, my hubby is Canadian and we have one daughter together who is also canadian. I was a student in Canada but my visa expired in August of 2015 but I only sent in my application on Jan 2016. I found out that I am pregnant again. As I am not covered by healthcare, is it a good idea to leave canada, apply for visitor visa from Singapore and come back in as a visitor then apply for an openwork permit? Will I be allowed re-entry if I came in with my husband? Thanks.
You can certainly try - but there is no guarantee the visitor visa will be approved. If the visitor visa is not approved and you can't return, this will effectively cancel your inland application.
Also, depending on where you are living (which provinces), getting the open work permit doesn't necessarily give you access to health care coverage. For example, if you are in Ontario, you have to wait until you have AIP (18 months after the application is submitted) before you will qualify for health care coverage.
Also, an inland app requires you are cohabiting with your sponsor in Canada during the entire application process. So even before you wanted to return to Canada, if CIC learns you are actually living outside Canada for your pregnancy, they could decide to cancel your inland app based on that.
