Inheriting a business.

Hello everyone. My stepdad is a business owner and wants to retire and pass on ownership and the running of the company over to me. He is a Canadian citizen and my mother and brother are Permanent Residents. I’m not a resident of Canada however so what are the options I have? Also my wife will be coming along with me and she has her bachelors degree in psychology and early child care. Thanks again.

Inheriting a business doesn't really give you a path to permanent residency.

I would recommend you look into the Express Entry program which is an economic immigration program. It's points based and those with the most points are selected out of the pool. Right now you need 460+ points to be chosen.

You can also talk to a lawyer. While inheriting a business doesn't grant you any immigration rights, there may be options based on the size/nature of the business.

I don't really know, but if the business is worth millions, there may be various corporate shenanigans (legally allowed shenanigans, not illegal shenanigans) that allow you to come here.

I know that high net-worth individuals use all sorts of corporate vehicles to gain residency in various countries. If you have that kind of money available, talk to a (probably expensive) lawyer.
