Indian passport surrender

Can anyone tell me the list of documents required for surrendering Indian Passport. Do I need to submit any additional documents which are not mentioned in the checklist. For example employment letter, spouse passport, spouse COPR, my COPR, etc. Or should I just submit the documents listed in the checklist.

For surrender I don't think you require employment letter, any COPRs or spouse's passport.
Just follow what is asked in the Checklist

I used this link in BLS website: "Track Application" and it shows my application status as "Under Process". Interesting thing is it also changed my Application Date from 19-01-2024 (when i checked the status on 19th) to todays date i.e., 24-01-2024.

Not sure how the application date can change?

Checked the status today and now it says "Processing at Consulate General". Should be 4 to 6 weeks from now to obtain the certificate?

Interesting, it says "Ready for Collection" despite I opted and paid for delivery. Lets see if it changes.

what is the processing time at surrey BLS FOR surrender certificate?
my 2 weeks is done any ideas?

Did you guys also got surrender certificate? or not?

Hi Guys...I sent by postal application for surrender certificate on Jan 17th...I tried tracking the status on BLS site providing my passport number but it's giving me the status of the new passport request that I submitted in 2020....any idea how I get status of my surrender certificate application?

Yea even i was shocked. I went in talked to security and showed him my appt print out. He checked my name on the “list” and it was there. Then he gave me a slip with an alphabet and a number and then i grabbed a seat and kept waiting.
i had people sitting beside me with the similar situation. Maybe its a Toronto location thing? Or maybe its general busy now? Idk but it happened to me

You need to have surrender certificate in hand before applying for OCI. So separate.

Do you recall after it reached consulate, how many days did it take for status to update on passport embassy website to change to surrender certificate issue or printed?

See you are going to pay to the person who will certify your affidavit. Let this person prepare the draft for you
In my daughter's case I shared my requirements with the Mihir and he drafted the entire affadavit document.

You need to have surrender certificate in hand before applying for OCI. So separate.

I tried to ask notary but wouldn’t find anyone who can make affidavit. They told me to bring a format draft and we can notarized with stamp . That’s why im struggling.

You need to call BLS to book your courier these days.

I have been trying to call them since last week but it goes to to a standard response asking to contact them via mail. Though they say they will respond in 24hrs I am yet to see any replies to my mails too. Looks like they are understaffed.
