Hey everyone need suggestion. I applied 19th Dec in Ottawa BLS and no update yet. It still says under review at Indian consulate. Who should I contact as it’s more than 5 weeks now.

Surrender cert takes 8 weeks?? It says 4 weeks for surrender cert and 8 weeks for OCI.

Thats the official processing time but does not really work in reality. Works mostly in Toronto only.
Vancouver is currently processing OCI in range of 11-14 weeks.

I got SC from Ottawa in 8 weeks in Aug 23. After that some even faced processing time of 10 weeks for the same.

Hmm, lets see. The certificate has been issues for like 3 weeks its just sitting at the consulate as per the status. but 8 weeks its just too much. I mean the whole process takes about 5-6 months now based on the comments then its just insane.

Yes you need to select passport for appointment. Its always better if all can go to manage last minute changes.

In-person applications were accepted with a self-declaration, provided you had a printout of the FAQ that mentioned this procedure from HCI/CGI/BLS. However, it appears that this FAQ reference no longer exists. You may need to strongly fight out for your case with the BLS counter staff for them to accept your application without a passport.

As for postal applications, they may not be accepted at all without a passport.

Yeah I talked to them they won’t. Also can you please share from where can i get affidavit for name change ? I don’t see anything on their website in Annexure section .

An affidavit can be provided by a Barrister, Solicitor, Notary Public, Commissioner of Oaths
I got one made for my daughter earlier through Mihir. He is based in Brampton, ON. This for a slight difference in the name of the city between IND and CAN passports.

Can anyone tell me the list of documents required for surrendering Indian Passport. Do I need to submit any additional documents which are not mentioned in the checklist. For example employment letter, spouse passport, spouse COPR, my COPR, etc. Or should I just submit the documents listed in the checklist.
