Indian passport surrender

Hitting 6 weeks now since I submitted my surrender application at BLS Montreal. Anyone else from Ottawa/Montreal waiting the same time?

Same with us as well. Sent the surrender application end of August at Montreal office, still stuck at processing..Looks like they have stopped the service

Considering we are still citizens until they give us the certificate, it seems weird they would stop processing them.

Planning to go to India on Dec 9-10. Any idea how the average processing time looks for both surrender and OCI?

Hello,

I am trying to surrender Indian passport to BLS Surrey via postal process. If you would be kind enough to answer a couple of questions that I have.
1) Are we allowed to post the application through any other courier service or it has to be Purolator?
2) When printing label using this link (https://www.blsindia-canada.com/vancouver-jurisdiction/fedexlabel.php) it asks for a transaction number. Is that transaction number generated once we make payment with the Pick up and Drop off service(https://www.blsindia-canada.com/postalbls/pickup-and-drop.php)?

Applied at Ottawa BLS. Its been 4 weeks but still shows as processing at High commission.

If you take the total processing time of 12 weeks(4 for surrender and 8 for OCI) it wont work for your travel dates but if they quickly process it like 3 weeks for surrender and 6 weeks for OCI you will be able to make it. Pre ban you would have easily made it but now things are slowed down so keep an eye on the thread to guess the timeline. No one can give you a definite answer.

you are not an Indian Citizen moment you took the Canadian Oath.
