For my passport surrender application submitted July 10th BLS tracker says "processing at consulate general" but passport seva portal says "Entered Application reference number can not be tracked"

Does it usually take time for application to be updated on passport seva website?

I submitted mine in-person at BLS Toronto on July 4 and received the surrender certificate and cancelled passport today.

Ottawa appear to be a lot slower than Toronto. It's been 2 weeks and the surrender certificate is still under review at the consulate.

Not really required but knowing that BLS may ask you to get new photographs clicked or say missing signature/thumb impression it’s better to bring your child along

should be done soon. for us it took 2.5 weeks for processing at HCI.

I booked OCI appointment before booking passport surrender appointment, now not able to book an appointment for passport cause of same phone number. The cancel appointment is not working, after entering appointment number and email address, hitting cancel, it says invalid request

Can you use a family member's phone? or call BLS service number?

instead of clicking on Track Status button, did you login and check status of the application submitted (on seva webpage)?

Unfortunately I don't have this application # linked to my passport seva login. Reason being BLS corrected some details and initiated a new application form for me.

Very similar to mine. Submitted in person at BLS Toronto on July 4 and received the document + canceled passport on July 14.

I meant "User Login" at https://portal3.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html instead of "Track Status" at the same webpage, but in @ramsay1212's case, his application number was generated by BLS personnel...so for him I guess the only way to track is at BLS site Track Application
