Next updated on the Passport Seva website you will see is “Surrender certificate has been printed”.
After this expect 1 week for the BLS tracker to be updated
Usually the surrender certificate prices should be completed within a months time from the date of submission

OCI process takes 2 months from the date you submit the application.
So even if you miss the your date with your friendly agent at BLS you still have enough time for you to receive the OCI document back if you submit on Apr 14

Just checked the status online and it says " The surrender certificate has been printed". The 4th April appointment could work I believe.

first page box under the photo and 2nd page box - child signs
2nd page, somewhere close to the box - both parents sign
this is the guidance i got from bls last time

Their documents are contradictory. Sample form mentions parents should sign the application in case of minor, however instructions (see link below) mention parents should not. In my case the minor has a thumb impression on the passport, so I think he should do the same on the form. In that case, do the parents still need to sign beside the impression as highlighted by you @2017CanadaHo! Does anyone else too have experience with this?

i submitted my child's application as mentioned above - based on what BLS person guided me, and was accepted. yes, instructions say that parents should not, but that's only inside the box. thumb impression or signature, if it is inside the box, it should be the child's. and parents (both) should sign near it on the 2nd page. all photocopies to be attested by parents. i played safe, we all (child, father, mother) signed all copies!!

am unable to find out any related charge on BLS or CGI website!

worst part is that BLS is charging more than what CGI has authorized. see this link and tell me how much you paid for courier. i paid $26.55 + HST whereas BLS is authorized to collect $20 for this

for photos they are supposed to charge $15 and give 4 photos. i don't think they're giving 4, but only 2.

OUTRIGHT LOOT. just multiply $6 or courier charges imposed with numbers they process and see the kind of money they're making. using that money they are keeping mouthes, ears and eyes shut of those who should be scrutinizing them.

I was charged for in Total $160.xxxx. So courier I'm assuming I was charged for appx $30.60 asotherwise pickup charges are $129.40

yes, expecting SC by mid/late April. i started filling in the online application for OCI but (see my queries and @abbas.pasha ke comments in the OCI thread) i decided to stop till the SC is issued.

uploading photos, signature and documents online has clearly spelt out specifications for dimensions and file size, that you can see when you visit the OCI website.

1. Do we need to have Canadian Passport to surrender Indian passport? I Havent applied for Canadian passport.
2. Any experience with Vancouver BLS? Heard that they are returning your application if we are not including Canadian passport.
3. Is it ok to surrender Indian passport after 3 month grace period?

i didn't know this but they used to give (or maybe have now started giving) that 1-year free pass after becoming PR too!

1 yes CA PP is needed before applying for SC. 'declaration' route about not having a CA PP was stopped in Feb.
2 this will not differ from Toronto to Vancouver, CGI rules would be the same.
3 yes you can, provided you are not using it for travel, and (am assuming) provided you surrender it as soon as reasonable after getting your CA PP

Hey!
I applied at Vancouver location on Feb 24th without a Canadian passport and there weren't any issues. I got my SC in two weeks. I called them and confirmed beforehand if I needed a Canadian passport and they said I didn't need one for Vancouver location. This was in Feb!
