Indian Passport Renewal Address Question

Hi,
I am in canada on work permit and have to renew my passport.

My current passport has address of my college hostel from India since I was issued on when I was studying. This is Indian address. Now, which address do I give while applying for renewal? Will my current canadian address, if I give bank statement or lease as proof? I am staying at a rented place since a month, will the rent lease suffice as proof? Will there be any police verification ? Will this take more time for processing?

Can I give Indian address as address for passport renewal with utility bill or bank statement as proof, but when I am residing in Canada as of now?

you have to give your present address where you are currently living in. Read the instructions and check with documents requirement. I got mine here itself. But Indian consulate really takes longer than it says the time on website. I remember going number of times and be returned empty handed. Cz on every visit they said next week and their NEXT week never came un till I confronted. So, go ahead apply for it, and be ready to wait for atleast 3 months. It could be less for you ;D. ( about pc check the required docs, they dont physically verify)
