I entered Canada after my PR card was expired(residency obligation not and I have entered through USA
Now, I have completed close to 16 months of residency obligation. I need to stay 8 more months to complete my residency obligation.

My Indian passport is expiring next month and to renew my passport I need to get a letter from CIC or show that I have applied for PR renewal.
Obviously I cannot do this, as this may revoke my PR card.

If I do not renew my passport, can I apply for my PR renewal after 8 months with expired passport.
Please suggest/advice. Appreciate any advice.
