PR renewal

Hey everyone,
Hope someone can help .. Im working on an application where the applicant entered to live in Canada right before his PR was expiring .. Now he had been in Canada for a year & a half.
He wants to apply for renewal if his PR so does he need to fill up the residency obligation part bcoz none of the options apply on him.

He doesn’t want to submit an application until they have a full 2 year plus some. If he doesn’t have the full 2 years IRCC will send it for residency review and they will revoke his status as a PR.

But his friend submitted an application before his time completed.... IRCC didnt reply him & renewed his PR after 2 years

There may have been something lost in translation or he was in Canada and had time left on his PR card when his friend applied for renewal. Nobody should ever apply for PR renewal until they have hit the 2 year mark especially if they were lucky and didn’t get reported when they entered the last time.

They don’t ask, they just revoke his PR if they determine he hasn’t spent 2 of the last 5 years in Canada. Better to wait 7 or 8 months until he knows he meets the minimum requirement.
