Where do I get my file number from? Is it the same one I used for the application? (In order to track status )

PCC file number will be generated on PSK Indian embassy website where you have created your PCC application.

Once you see your PCC file number which starts form "catxxxxxxxxxxx" (use lower case) you can track your status on PSK India site.

Folks, do check your spam folder. I found an email from BLS in my spam folder.
It was as follows:

Dear XXXXX,​

Your PASSPORT application with airway bill no XXXXX has received at our BLS Center on .Please allow 4-5 business days for processing it to IHC/CGI.Please note that this is an auto-generated mail & does not indicate that your application has processed to Indian High commission or Consulate general of India. Please allow 4-5 business days for processing your application to Indian High commission or Consulate general of India. Once your application processed in our BLS center, you will be notified through email service with a unique BLS reference number. The unique number can be use for tracking purpose on BLS website..​

How long it takes for the file number to generate? On the BLS tracking site, they are showing my application date as 21st July. The application reached to the CGI on 22nd July. But I don't see any file number in the Passport Portal. It only has ARN. Will give it another day though.

Is a "Personal Particular Form" (https://blsindia-canada.com/annexures/personal-perticular-form.pdf) required for an Indian passport holder for PCC? The instructions in the checklist are not very clear.

How long it takes for the file number to generate? On the BLS tracking site, they are showing my application date as 21st July. The application reached to the CGI on 22nd July. But I don't see any file number in the Passport Portal. It only has ARN. Will give it another day though.

For me it took 6-7 days but keep checking it. If its showing status as "processing at CGI" on BLS tracking site that means it will move forward and once you see PCC file number is generated then you'll receive an email saying that PCC initiated or received at your local Police dept. in approx. 3-4 days.

2. 25 june date at cgi
3. intiation of police request on 9 july
4.police officer came at 13 july for verification.

what does 'pcc needs to be collected from regional office' means ? whats the next step after that

i got the Initiation of Police Verification Request email on July 17.

Hi, If you've got Police verification initiation email that means your PCC application has been sent to your local police dept. They usually takes 1-2 weeks however I would suggest you (or your family member) to personally go there and ask them the status if you can Otherwise wait!

My Timelines

7-May- Docs sent to BLS Brampton via purolator
8-May- Docs delivered BLS Brampton
No update for 20 days
28-May- Received email from BLS accepting the docs and processing
29-May- Docs sent to Consulate- As per BLS website tracking
3-June - Got email from passport admin that Police verification is initiated
15-June - Police verification completed in local police station. Had to send my uncle 2-3 times to police station to check if they received the request. In fact they received on June 3rd itself and never called. Even after going to police station and checking they said they dint received it

Status was still showing under review at PSK. Send multiple emails, grievance to consulate, RPO, SP office. Had to send my uncle to SP office and finally came to know it was struck in SP office due to expired dongle and they cannot able to submit. I was keep sending emails without any response from any concerned officer.

19-July - SP office gets dongle and submitted same day. Status changed to Ready to collect from RPO.
20-July PCC granted by consulate
21-July PCC printed and in transit to BLS
22-July PCC dispatched from BLS
23-July- PCC received at home.

sadly my parents are in another city because of covid they are not go to my home.
I hope they do something about this.
When i read it is under review i thought they have not sent to the local police station.
this is really upsetting.
This pcc is for my sponsorship pr application. my work permit is expiring december. I am worried a lot.

I also recall hearing the other counter person mentioning 6 weeks to the previous candidate. So, not sure how much time it would really take. Any idea what the current timelines are looking around?

There are plenty of applications which are in applied in june. So as of now I don't think you will get less than 5 weeks.

People applied in June are in waiting so think like not less than 5 weeks.

Applied on Jun 9th,
Went to consulate on Jun 26th,
Police verification initiated on Jul 10th
Police verification completed on Jul 13th

Still the status in BLS site shows processing at consulate
