Independent Contractor Work Experience for CEC

I have work experience for 1 whole year with a reference letter from the company stating i worked at their address for 37.5 hours a week. Has anyone had any luck proving their independent contractor experience eligible for CEC?

Unfortunately, independent contractor = self-employed, which is specifically excluded under the CEC class.

Yes, aware but I have come across few places where they said that it can be made eligible if the relationship was more of employer-employee.

If not CEC, can this be done under FSW?.

Yes, aware but I have come across few places where they said that it can be made eligible if the relationship was more of employer-employee.

It can be done. I have seen some accepted, but it's not easy, most are refused. Might depend on the NOC (what is the "norm" for the NOC) and/or the overall quality of your application.

Note that your chances are better if you get the CRA ruling. However, there are time limits to request that, and there could *potentially* be consequences to the employer (CRA has recently been taking the view that if you are a de facto employee, you should be an employee, and your "employer" is shirking tax obligations if you are not.).

If the experience is outside Canada, yes.

Oh if inside canada, it doesn't count under FSW either?
