I am now organizing our application file to be dispatched under spousal sponsorship outside Canada.
Now, in our case, I am the husband being sponsored, I am on work permit here working fulltime. My sponsor is not working as she is studying for her pharmacy exams. Under the questions pertaining to employment of my sponsor, we have submitted detailed explanation with supporting documents of our financial situation and that I am the breadwinner in the family at the moment. Many seniors have confirmed that my sponsor does not require to meet income requirement to sponsor her spouse.
Now, my question is: In the document check list, there are several documents required by the check list to be included with the application pertaining to my sponsor's employment and income. Now since she is unemployed at the moment, what do I write in the check list ??? NOT APPLICABLE???? OR WHAT ?
I would think she would still need to submit an Option C form, which is a detailed tax return from the CRA. Even if she's a student, I would think she would be able to provide one? and then attach it to an explanation of her current situation. Perhaps talking to an accountant would be helpful in determining if she would be able to file taxes and get the assessment.
we are submitting Option C printout for her for sure....she was working when I was a student here, and then when I got the job, she went for studies...
we have been filing our taxes as married couple in 2012 and 2013 tax years....
i am submitting the following proofs as income support:
My (person to be sponsored) income pay stubs for last three months
My last 3 months bank statements showing balances in my account
Both our notice of assessments for the latest tax year
We are explaining the situation on separate sheet of paper that the husband is working at the moment with enough income to support household and once my sponsor is done with her exams, she will resume working too
Please let me know if this is enough?
And please tell me, in the check list where it asks for employment documents for my sponsor, since she is unemployed at the moment, what should I write? Bcos I am not included any employment papers since she is unemployed? Should I write NOT APPLICABLE on the check list where it asks for her employment and income documents??????
There are a lot of things on the checklist that are optional based on your situation. If I didn't submit something listed on the checklist I just left it blank. I think you have provided a good enough explanation. As long as she was not collecting welfare then you will be fine.
Filing your taxes as a full-time student is the best time! It pretty much guarantees money back! (Although I don't have experience with this a married couple)
I think you are fine. Just write NA or even a little note saying - see page 12 where you explain she is a student and you are currently the bread winner.
