Because it's part of the process. Anyone who doesn't go into this expecting an interview is fooling themselves. It's part of the process. Whether they ask for one or not is entirely up to IRCC.
Surely there would be a reason why they will need an interview..that's why one has to order notes or visit their MP to know the exact reason. Won't hurt to ask. And nobody's fooling themselves when they go into this process and expect no interview. Although it's part of the process, it's a fact that not everyone has to undergo an interview.

No, no. You can ask for MP's help anytime.
Some applicants have successfully waived their interview by knowing the exact reason why an interview is needed based on their MP's help or GCMS notes. Say for example, you did not provide enough evidences that would satisfy them that your marriage is genuine, then you can do this by sending in more pics/evidences voluntarily and addressing their concerns.
Well..that sometimes happen! Lol. But no, they are the most helpful individuals in this process. Some you can count on, some will just brush you off if they knew you submitted within the last 12 months. Lol. Hopefully, @msb's MP would be willing to help and do their best.

Thank you for this information and on how to contact your MP. Though we are not at the stage of interview (which is likely for us), it is good to be aware that you need to be proactive because this process requires it. I am having my own dilemma of having our processing stalled because I think the VO didn't send out a request for us to do the RCMP fingerprinting (5 months almost since our background check has been in progress and nothing else has been started). Contact your MP for things like the interview or something like my case is important because otherwise you will fall victim to the inefficiencies of the system. MP's are there to look after your interests as constituents and if the request for intervention is reasonable, I say go for it. The more people you have on your side, the more likely your process will go faster and easier.
