According to the new ECAS, what is the difference between in process and we started processing your application on xx.xx.xxxx? In some cases, in process appears but we started processing your application appears much later. Can anyone explain? Thank you!
For me personally, the "we started processing your application on" was the same date that we got Stage One approval (July 27th, I believe). This wasn't updated to reflect that until my application went In Process (October).
I think I should clarify a bit more what exactly I am enquiring about. I am talking about The permanent residence part of the application, what does it imply when it simply says ''in process" and what exactly does it mean when a line is added saying "we started processing your application on.... What is happening to your file when those appear?
The honest truth is that it really tells you very little and ECAS isn't that reliable.
My husband's ECAS still showed "in process" a month after a decision in his application had been made and he had landed. I wouldn't fixate too much on ECAS. It's not a great indicator of what's happening with your application. Only your notes can really tell you that.
Dear Syclla,
I would kindly want to ask how about the gcms notes? My ecas says we started processing in May but yesterday I got my gcms notes and every thing says not started.
Am confused with the whole in process

GCMS is the true picture of your case to the date of the notes generation. If everything says not started, it means that an officer not yet finished the initial assessment of your file , i.e. your eligibility. eCAS in process means that your file was opened at the VO and (probably) checked for completeness of documents/forms.
Dear Sashali,
Thank you for your reply. But my question is it has update on 2st may 2015 yet I got the notes 13 October. Does it mean that my file was opened only once in may. Or they are working on it will add info when done.
Thanks once again.
Bless your soul

If the last update is in May it means that is when it was last worked on, so yes not opened since then. Its probably in queue for review but no one can tell you when exactly...Hang in there.
