I am a 52 year old person, married with three children. I live in the UK.

I have been trying to emigrate to Canada without much luck. My wife has a mother and siblings.

We both work for the local government in the United Kingdom.

Can anyone help or give advice on whether we can emigrate or our best option.

I was thinking a sponsorship undertaking maybe?

What type of sponsorship? Given your age, it will be difficult unless you secure a job offer with LMIA, and come to Canada on a closed work permit. That is only temporary and not PR.

No they can’t sponsor you. You find a job in Canada and get a job offer. The employer needs to pay $1000 and file for a LMIA. The employer has to prove that no Canadian or PR could be hired. Few employers go through the process because of the time and money. If employer gets a LMIA, then you apply for a closed work permit.

Finding a job with no work authorization is extremely difficult unless you are in a highly skilled field. You apply for jobs (don’t expect a response) but hope that one employer will not be able to hire a Canadian or PR to do the job. Then the employer has to be willing to go through the LMIA process. A LMIA is a document the employer needs to pay and apply for. You can look at Express Entry or PNP program and see if you are eligible. How old are your children?

Children are age 19, 15 and 9.
I have been applying for jobs through the City of Toronto and like you said I have had no responses. Not sure if I will qualify through the Express Entry or PNP program, as you have to have certain points.
I do not have a skill as such, but do have a business diploma and working in government office.

Your family cannot sponsor you. You must qualify on your own.

You should assume that finding a job offer won't be possible.

I think your only hope is the PNP programs if you have work experience in an occupation that is in demand in one of the provinces.

Otherwise immigrating may simply not be feasible and you may have to be satisfied with visiting from time to time.

Do you know of an organisation called Solid Visa, they seem to think I qualify because of my education and work experience. They want to take on my case to help me get to Canada.
