Hi,

I have applied for immigration to Canada under Federal Skilled workers category in May,2008 from New Delhi, India. I have completed my MBA from Vancouver, BC in 2006.

However in November, 2009 I received a refund of my fees of $1100 for me & my wife.

I have never asked for a refund.

Could someone help me understand why I have received a refund?

Thanks,
Solomon

Did you not get a rejection letter prior to this? Did you qualify for immigration?

If you answer is no and yes, then they might have made a mistake.

Just to add :- I think they refused your application and sent you are refusal letter as well, your lost / couldn't receive that letter, so by system, after specific period... you got your refund. If you fall under 1,2 or 3 FSW, then re apply again and make sure that you fulfill all requirements, otherwise .....

The most likely explanation is that you did not qualify under the new NOC rules. You have applied before the rules changed. CIC always explains why a particular application was rejected. It is very likely you did not receive that letter or lost it in the mail or changed addresses during the processing. Either way, you have two options:

1. Send an email to CIC asking why you were refunded.

2. Start the process all over again, because refund is a sure shot sign that you did not qualify under the new rules.

Thanks for your replies...

I have not received any letter from the High Comission or Embassy....

Just a cheque of $1100.....

Suprising that I did not pass the score of 67... When I calculate I had got 70 points...

I have also completed my MBA from BC, Canada in 2006...

What should I do now?

Regs,
Solomon

do you qualify under FSW1, 2 or 3. I guess 1. Is your job in the 38 list?

Thank you for the replies...

Yes. I do fall under category 0122 - Investment Manager.... Heading a region for Mutual Funds.

Still confused!!!

Regards,
Solomon

from what i remember 0122 is not on the list. Look at 0111 if you qualify under that (that is if 0122 is not on the list as i think ).

Thanks rupeshhari...

It's there on the NOC code list...

http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/ViewAllTitlesQuickSearch.aspx?val=0&val1=0122&val65=*

What should I do now?

Solomon

Oh man, thats not the magic list I am talking about. you got to read the new rules. its a different list. look under 0111 to see if you qualify.

Also look at FAQ thread to look at the new application procedure.

Not that list, check this one:http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

Thanks again...

Yes... I can fall under 0111 - financial planning and advisory service manager also...

What should I do now....

Regs,
Solomon

dont look at the title, look at the job duties. anyway, if you qualify, go ahead and apply. The best is to send off the application to NS as soon as possible with the fees or payment, etc, etc and then wait.

Make sure to read through www.cic.gc.ca

Good luck.

Thanks a Zillion for all the replies...

So I have to start my process all over again... I think it would be better to go through a consultant... Any suggestions!!!

I have lost almost more than a year....

I hope re-applying is not an issue...

Warm regards,
Solomon
