Some years ago, it was quite easy for a native English speaker to find teaching or tutoring English jobs in China. Have you try?
BTW, I use skype too both in China and Canada. The quality and connection itself was not bad. The worst thing about China was shutting down internet connection during issues like recently happened in Inner Mongolia.
Just moving to Beijing will not allow her to have her visa processed there. They go by where her hukou is. If you put together a really good application, it may get through faster than the times posted.
It is very difficult to get a visitor visa for someone who is married to a Canadian, but you could try. She will have to prove that she will return to China once her visa is up. You do that by showing a return ticket, showing proof of a job in China with a letter from her boss stating she has been given 2 weeks of vacation and is expected back, a lease or mortgage or property in her name, money in the bank, chidlren left behind, proof of enrollment in and payment for classes that start after her expected date of return to China, etc. The fact that she has been issued a visa for Italy and returned from that trip is in fact relevant, so mention it - it shows she can be trusted to return.
A few people on the forums have gotten a TRV from China, though most people are refused.
no as its based on her residency the processing times are the avg some may go earlier if ur case is straightfwd lots of proof then hopefully u r 1 of the faster case
Thank you everyone for your wonderful replies I really appriciate the support and know that many of you are in simmilar situations. Once I have gone through this process I will love to help anyone with any questions as I think I am a good teacher. I have come to terms with maybe I will have to find a job in china and wait how long it takes to get the visa for my wife. Does anyone know is the application for any different for doing this? has anyone every done this before? and what was the process like was it fast or slow or did you have to provide additional evidence of being in a genuine relationship and that you would go back to live in canada with your wife?
well if u decide to live there doing the duration then yes u do have to provide an intent to return to canada could be in the form of a job offer etc, evidence can be asked at any point during the application process so if u live together then thats a bonus for u as ur "dates" are considered evidence family gatherings etc so the application is the same process submit ur completed application to cpc-m n wait the 42 business days then u will find out if u are approved as a sponsor which is the easy part the hard/long part begins when the file gets tranferred to HK or Beijing not sure which 1 u are going to choose but an advice dont live n breathe immigration i know it sucks as i havent started the process yet (getting married soon) but you and your wife enjoy your new life together afterall u r a newly wed ;D

Lots of people have done it, and have succeeded at getting the visa. The main difference is that you have to prove you will go back to Canada when the applicant gets the PR visa.
There is one advantage: because you will actually be living together, you can gather lots of proof that your relationship is genuine.
