Hi. I am about to go to university in Canada and currently I have a study permit. My parents are on work permits. Is there an international fee for my university tuition if my parents are on work permits in Canada? Please attach links with your answers. Thank You!
Yes, since you are on a study permit, you pay the non-resident fee.
Universities/ colleges/ schools will determine your fee based on your residency situation. they require a PR card/ Citizenship card to charge you a domestic student fees. since you will have neither of those, you will pay the international fees
If ur parents are on closed work permits, i.e. the province and employer's name are indicated on their work permits you should be exempted from international fees. I came to canada as a worker and later got a study permit, i am not a permanent resident but i am paying canadian fees thanks to my work permit and so does my husband. This information about international fee exemptions should be found on your college/university website. I googled mine before contacting the college staff. They are usually lazy to look up such things.
